James Stefka

Meet James Stefka, a 100 Club Heart of Texas board member who joined the Club in 2023.

 

James was among the first paramedic class in Henderson County in 1982 and went on to be a part of the EMS profession for 43 years. Throughout his career, James earned his ECA in 1979 and later got his paramedic certification in 1982. He has held positions at companies like Careflite, ETMC EMS, and is currently with Global Medical Response.

 

During his career, James has been very involved in higher education. First, he received a degree in Emergency Medical Technology from Tyler Jr. College. Then, he went on to get a BSBM from LeTourneau University in Longview. More than being a student, he has also been an instructor in ACLS, ITLS, PPPC, and earned his National Registry Paramedic in 1993.

 

While he is not busy with the 100 Club Heart of Texas, James is involved in other aspects of the community. He has served as an advisory chair for EMS at MCC, engaged with the American Heart Association, and is active at Olive Branch Baptist Church. Furthermore, he has served as an adjunct faculty at Tyler Jr. College and MCC.

 

On a personal note, James is all about family. He has been married to his wife, Toi, since 1983. Together, they have five children and 11 grandchildren.
